The inter-regional exhibition-fair POTATOES. VEGETABLES AND FRUITS is Russia’s largest business space for the promotion of Russian and foreign technologies for the production and processing of fruit and vegetable products, modern sorts, the latest industry equipment and ecologically pure food products, promoting the success of your business.
The exposition and programme of the exhibition-fair meets the most pressing needs of the Russian market. Increasing the competitiveness of agricultural and food products is impossible without reducing the costs of production, the application of efficient resource-saving technologies and the modern achievements of selection and seed breeding.
In recent years the demand for potato and horticultural products has been steadily increasing, so there is a pressing need to increase production of these types of agricultural products and improve their distribution and sales systems. In this connection, advanced sorts and growing technologies are beginning to play determining roles with regard to potatoes, vegetables and fruits, as well as their warehousing, storage, transportation and further processing.
With regard to potatoes one of the most important directions continues to be the improvement of elite seed breeding.
Currently in many regions, a transition is under way to new technological schemes of performing primary seed breeding using biotechnological methods of improving the health of sorts, clonal reproduction of meristematic microplants. New, non-traditional technologies and new technological equipment are used for this. Moreover, when producing elite sorts it is especially important to establish an effective system of quality monitoring and certification of the seed material.
The POTATOES. VEGETABLES AND FRUITS exhibition is not only a showing of the latest Russian and foreign production technologies and sorts, but also an ideal trade space for concluding profitable contracts for the delivery of horticultural products and potatoes in Russia’s regions, including Moscow.
One entity that participates actively in the organisation and running of the exhibition-fair is the Moscow City Government, which focuses on the development of inter-regional and integrative ties and works to increase the volumes of food deliveries in the capital first and foremost from Russia’s regions.
The exposition clearly shows the integration and cooperation of companies in the capital’s food complex with agricultural producers from the regions. During the exhibition, orders are accepted for the delivery of horticultural products to Moscow, and suppliers are selected. For example, during the 2005 exhibition, contracts were concluded for the delivery of more than 200,000 tonnes of horticultural products and potatoes to the capital.
The POTATOES. VEGETABLES AND FRUITS exhibition will feature world trends in the development of the industry, Russian and foreign innovative exhibition technologies, the latest scientific developments, industry equipment, the best samples of agricultural and food products, including vegetables and fruits in unprocessed form, dry fruits, nuts, spices, bio-products, as well as culture seeds. The exposition will show the entire chain, from selection, seed breeding, production, storage, and processing to sales of potato and horticultural products.
The exhibition has become Russia’s largest event on this theme. Leading Russian and foreign companies take part in it every year. The exhibition features presentations of the latest Russian and foreign technologies and a venue for the resolution of many strategic issues, the most important of which is the integration of the related industries of agriculture engaged in the production of potatoes and horticultural products. It is a place where investment policy is refined, and important business agreements are concluded.
